Story Tent Slough 2026

Story Tent Slough 2026 organised by Slough Faith Partnership in conjunction with Art Beyond Belief and St Mary’s Church was held this year between 15-17 June 2026 at St Mary’s Church in Slough. It is supported by Slough Borough Council Education Team, Slough Children First. The theme of this year’s Story Tent was ’It’s not Fair!’
244 Yr4 and Yr5 students from St Mary’s Primary School, Grove Academy, Islamic Shakhsiyah School and Penn Wood School participated the event. We had a much bigger diversity of story tellers this year. All our story tellers were volunteers. We had two story tellers from Christian tradition, three story tellers from Muslim tradition, three story tellers from Sikh tradition, three story tellers from Hindu tradition, one story teller from Buddhist tradition, one story teller from Brahma Kumari tradition, one story teller from Humanist tradition and one story teller from Zoroastrian tradition.
Progress of the day: The tents were buzzing with interest and interaction. Students were fully participating and apparently enjoying themselves. Secondary school volunteers from Slough & Eton School observed the stories with their selected student groups. Remaining adults floated around different tents observing different stories and how the young students reacted to the stories they have heard.
Art: Art Beyond Belief have been working with Slough and Eton students training them to facilitate an art exercise with the younger students. The exercise aimed at creating art work reflecting their experiences from the stories they have listened to in the morning. The S&E volunteers helped the younger students to create “Word Clouds” consisted of words that stayed in their minds after they heard the three stories on the concept of “It’s Not Fair!” The older students then assisted younger ones to present their work on a large monitor to that could be monitored by all participants (young and adult)
